Improve Faker Check

You really have to change your policy or add "faker checks". - In the last weeks I have more time for chatting, and each day I have at least 1 or 3 fakers - people who use profiles with a wrong identity. This is bad for all non-fakers, it´s decreasing the trust in your app/gay-community etc., it´s an emotional problem (could increase depressions), and it´s actually increasing the number of fakers, because on your platform it is getting "normal" to have a fake profile.

E.g. yesterday the profile "bifunvers" (29 years old etc.) is using pics of the training & nutrition expert Patrick Ruth (29). - This tooks me some minutes to figure it out but it was easy! Get people on board to check the profiles, at least of the very good-looking guys who look like trainers/models! SO EASY, you simply have to do it. It´s a compliment if they are real, and they really can prove it if they are real. What ever you do - change your policy and way you are (not) doing it!

It´s your job to manage that and to find the way to do this! E.g. with the same e-mail-Adress you could have several profiles: why is that possible???? Naturally, you can´t have 2 identities! This is what you could stop immediately. If you are afraid to loose people (actually you will loose a lot fakers - Planetromeo is full of fakers), you will loose them all. Trust me. The "circle of life" will hit you in your face.

There could be a Fake Check system by writing your profilenumber on a piece of paper and upload it on a extra tool. As a result you'd get a "Fake Check Mark" next to your Name, if the Fake check was successful.

And implement a fake check option for the search.

I get more fake users contacting me than real users in recent months, I would like to see a feature where the system checks the logon location either by IP or GPS and flags users that are reporting to be more than 100 miles from their actual location to other users. I realise that working users real location from things like IP is not easy as it can be masked with proxy's and VPN's and relies on geo DB's being up to date, however at would make it harder for scammers, it would reduce the large number of fake users that seem to be gaining access to PR.

I know there is no perfect solution to this problem and the gangs trying to perpetrate this will find ways round anything, but PR seems to have far more fake profiles than other sites.

about the faker check:

how about adding a fake-rating.

Any user who had a conversation with another should be allowed to rate one if he guess it's a fake or true

maybe with the option to change his mind later on ... similar the old nasty block user function but better

fake-rate:

a) I guess its true and honest

b) it's a fake I am sure

c) making appointments but does not show up with no excuse

... etc

As far as I can see the rating by users is not very good. I read some guestbook items stating the user to be a faker, just because his location changed very fast between cologne and Thailand. He was accused to be a faker. But: Some people do not understand that you can travel and be 10000km away in a moment :-)

The same happed to another friend of mine. Especially when the person is jealosly ignored :-) "He does not want to date with me, he must be fake!"

actually the romeo-team promised a solution to this exact problem about half a year ago on a dedicated update site where they announced what they were working on, what was planned and when those things were to be expected.

then they simply shut down that site and everything they promised there is no where to be seen.

(all changes are cut backs in functionality for both regular and plus users)

don't let yourself be tricked in thinking that anything wished for/ suggested or even promised here would actually be of any interest to the romeo team. it's a sacm, just look at the way this site is managed (abitrary merging and closing of topics) and the way romeo staff communicates here randomly without any useful comments.

You are totally right. They will do everything to avoid this issue. Because this is what makes Gayromeo interesting to many guys. The fact that u can hide behind a fake identity. Why should they cut in their own flesh and ban one third of the users?

Just save the Emailadress and van IT for build New profiles for a few weeks or Months. It's so annoying to chat a while. Habe an appointment after telling my Adress or phone number and then the Profile is deleted. Bann already used Email adresses for creating New profiles. So that faker have one step more to fake a Profile. They need to create a new Email first.

Second idea. Uncount blocking Funktion

Third. Install a rating for profiles after an existing Chat like the picture rating. Exclude profiles who are proofed by linked friends.

But try to think logically. The romeo staff actually wants to have more profiles (they call them users) and not less. They will never decrease the number of existing profiles in order to satisfy the "community"

I'd like to have a function "I think this profile is fake / might be fake" - but this could be abused. There actually is such a function under "Report", but it does not seem to help really. A fake prevention would have to work similar to a spam filter, by taking many things into account.

Of course it is easy. But the Gayromeo Management doesn't want to loose "active" users, as absurd as it sounds.

Look at your topic. You posted it 7 months ago. Now, March 2017, I could still have 100 account on my one email...

Nothing is gonna change unless someone sues them.

It's getting really insane. Lately I have been getting contacted by a bunch of fake profiles, to the point every time a nice looking jock-type of guy is messaging me I am already suspicious and being forced to look up their pictures on the Internet (and surprise -- all of the profiles I checked recently ended up being fake, whether I caught their pictures online or not!)

It's getting to the point where anytime someone that looks attractive already gets flagged as fake in my mind so I am losing interest in contacting people. You really should enforce identity policies or something.

Für was brauch man 3 profile?

I don't care how many profiles one has, as long as it is not a scam.

Es ist mir egal, wie viele Profile man hat, solange es kein Betrug ist.

Problem is Romeo does not seem to give a rat's ass about the truth. They say it's aboiut privacy concers, even when a faker is booted off, they claim "privacy laws" and "danger to the individual" in certain places. As for privacy, how do privacy laws apply to someone who does not exist?? Romeo never WILL answer that. I doubt they have a just reason. As for "danger to the individual", Romeo can get credentials and store them offline to thwart hackers. One thing for certain...I am weary of pee pee shots, and I will never pay for the service if it goes on like this. Romeo can't go much longer like this...

they need also to fight fake picture in fake accounts

this got me to delet my account many times since 2014 and i'm deleting my account and come back

u tried to contact planetromeo about this but no solution so far

they need to have a system that can verify each one in the platform
