New PlanetRomeo vs Classic.PlanetRomeo

Both websites show interesting settings and functions which are not to find at the other one.

My suggestion is to leave both websites as they are, that I could have several possibilities to select.

A bad case would be, if the previous website, now as classic.planetromeo.com, would be set out of

service or something similar, and the new PlanetRomeo would undergo development like wide away

of user-friendly working.

Or in another way, why should something good being changed if it is good ?

For my own opinion I would like to prefer using Classic.PlanetRomeo, because I am PC-User and

not smartphone user and I am not using apps or something like that. Maybe for other users the

new PlanetRomeo while using apps through smartphones is something better.

But I like more using the previous website now as Classic.PlanetRomeo.

Classic.PlanetRomeo is a little bit more clearer in design.

My suggestion to leave both websites as they are is for switching between both websites,

while using the best settings and functions for each seperate one.

Great comments. I fully agree with writer. New site will work great for smart phone users, however, I am still a PC-based user

and new site is very complicated to use on pc. Just not user freindly to pc users. My friends using smart phone are happy

with it as easier for them to use on the smart phone. Let's just keep both sites active for years to come.

Just look at the classic Microsoft Windows Interface vs. the "new" one with tiles. It showed up by default when Windows 8 appeared, but was changed back quickly. The first one is for "working", the other one for "clicking around on a tablet / smartphone". AND a lot of functions that are available in the classic interface are still missing - so stop the heavy promotion until it is really finished.

"why should something good being changed if it is good ?"

The classic version simply isn't good by today's standards. At one point, you need to evolve and let go of the old version.

I don't think Planetromeo should let go of the old version, instead they should treat it as the version for desktop users and evolve it around that, cause the beta is basically still only a website for tablets and it will always stay that way in my opinion, because desktop users simply expect a fully featured design that is made to work with a mouse and not a feature reduced version for touch devices. As a desktop user I want profiles to open as real windows so I can close them with a shortcut on a mouse button for example, Romeo explicitly said they need to change the whole structure of the website for this, so we probably ain't going to get such a useful functionality back with this new beta, which is think is a disappointment.

I actually expected a better Romeo and not a lighter Romeo.

photo

For still being able to use the classic I would even take the pill of having a non-further-evolved classic and going over to the beta for future features that I miss on there.

I only bought a new computer back then when I was sure that I could use the classic menu on Windows 8 instead of the cool-for-any-device-EXCEPT-for-those-that-have-a-mouse-and-keyboard tile crap ... same here. If classic does not stay, another plus user that does not stay.

It is good for PR's user standards, your argument is conceptual, hypothetical and rethorical.

photo

I totally disagree...

It is not "good" but simply "different"

you can't compare both sites as it is not only a matter of graphic, but even functionalities are missing, not only the GUI has changed !

It's not a question between 'old' and 'new'. Planetromeo Classic and New Planetromeo are totaly different concepts. You can't compare. New PR wants to be something like Grindr & Co. It works well with smartphones or tablets. PR Classic is a genuine gay dating platform for PC users. There has never been a better one. If they ever should shut down PR Classic it would be a big mistake!

But at least the chat function with instant messaging and the album overviews and slideshows are *way* better than on the old site. And many things are made much more straightforward and easier to use, also on the desktop.

I totally agree, Romeo hasn't aged well, but there is a good reason why we are still all on this big old rusty ship now called classic that accompanied us through the years with all its ups and downs, because it has everything in one website and it is a (or should I say was?) - maybe even the best - genuine gay dating platform for PC users.

I bet if Romeo really wanted to, they could have implemented a better chat in classic years ago. Displaying a short chat history and the message input in one window together would have been a good start to evolve the message window to the more real-time chat we have now, but we never saw such a no-brainer upgrade.

Romeo surely also could have easily implemented a better slideshow in the classic website. I mean I always wondered why you just couldn't click on a picture to go to the next picture when you open the pictures in the profile like you can in the album. These minor tweaks and bigger thumbnails would have made my experience so much better, that I wouldn't have needed a new website in years. But I think Romeo wants to cater to the new generation of tablet only users that don't care about features when they are able to just chat in real-time, so they had to reject the good old classic website that made Romeo big to free up resources for the development of a feature reduced tablet version of Romeo, cause they obviously cannot even evolve just one classic desktop website right. At least that is how I see it.

reply to @Jan Oberhammer:

... I think, as soon as they drop classic completely, then a large number of paying members would drop out.

The new design may be attractive to mobile users,

but this specific the user base would be just millions of non-paying mobile-type users.

Kiddies and 'wanna have it free'.

The paying rest has gone ;-)

i prefer the classicR the ''new'' its full with complication

@braveguy: you say, ...'the chat function with instant messaging and the album overviews and slideshows are *way* better than on the old site'

Regarding albums, I disagree.

I just opened a profile with hundreds of album pictures. Only way to view, is the 'slideshow' feature, or at the bottom of the profile, to click thru the six previews.

The old album concept was way better, I could open album folders. I could see if its just travel photos, faces or XXX. Just as the user organized them. They had something that is called 'Album Names'. Imagine this!

The new design is just for swiping, but it is a BIG FAIL as soon as there are more than 10 pics.

photo

There is a third way: Click at the photo icon and you see the thumbnails of all pictures, sorted by folders.

photo

@braveguy: OK, I didnt know this.

But why is the UI not sufficiently self-explaining? Why does it lead a experienced user like me, on a wrong path, missing out options?

i PREFER THE FULL CLASSIC

Why this was declined? The classic page is still online. I hope it will never be shut down, Its ways better than the new page when you want use it on your computer and has alot more functionality and is much faster.

... aaand it got declined. So much for listening to user's needs and wishes.

I want to keep the classic planetromeo instead of the new web.

I have paid USD 72.-- PlanetRomeo PLUS premium service. because I wanted to have the benefits of the Classic version + new version. Unfortunately the new version is of a very poor quality for users.

Extensive research, clubs etc. are excellent with old version. Everything is difficult with the new version/Web/Site. Even a detailed search gives me undesirable results. I am very disappointed with your new version. The possibilities are inferior to the old version.

Why to pay USD 72 for a poor quality product whose the best will be canceled in the coming months? Legal action may be attempted if the product no longer matches with the current product by the end of the ? quarter. Those who complain here want a quality website. Before it is too late.

Not a bad comment and thanks, but what does that have to do with the topic?

There are other topic suggestions that are more appropriate for such a comment,

and where PlanetRomeoPlus and the increased annual fees are concerned.

Just stay with the topic.

Many Thanks.

Bitte beim Thema bleiben.

Vielen Dank.

I think you didn't understand the topic of this thread?

.. classic vs New Planetromeo ...

The New version is for desktop using not acceptable...

photo

I think I do understand the topic.

It would be strange if I would not understand the topic I have posted.

photo

Don't know what your issue is.

"I will not pay any more if CLASSIC loses VS BETA because beta is crap not worth paying a penny fore" clearly is ON topic.

I agree XXlvl, the comment of LEO IS INDEED ON TOPIC : it adds evidences of why we should keep the CLASSIC instead of the NEW... cause features (plus included) works much better than the old one. and I agree, i still use the old one instead of the new one, even on my phone... using the old link.

well, the topic being "new planetromeo vs Clasic Planetromeo" I would say that the new is a breach of contract from what was advertised in Classic, and paid for... and what one is now getting. That is a HUGE "A vs B" scenario.

Classic offered me something I liked, and I paid accordingly in order to receive what Classic offered.

After paying, I'm now given a different product that doesn't appeal to me at all, and doesn't deliver what I paid for.

I believe Classic is better because permet us to refine our search with clubs better like we do with Grindr using tribes. Why we want reduce a powerful tool as Classic Romeo to be less than other social with no club and more gogo 😟????

It's almost 2019 why you don't just give ideas to improve the new site instead of trying to keep the old slow site with popups al over? it was crazy
